Ancestral Whispers captures the rawness and feminine essence of nature.

Twisting, Knotting and Draping originated from observing the roots and branches of trees and how they intertwine with each other, creating a beautiful tapestry around the tree trunk.

Designs are also influenced by my Portuguese heritage and how my background has guided the choice of silhouettes, shapes and draping. Inspired by women, community and nature the style and cut of garments juxtapose between sharp and structural lines from tailoring and corsetry and the fluidity and drapery of dresses and skirts. Elegant cuts designed to flow and express the freedom of movement. Waist Twisted Panels, representing ancient trees wrapping around the womb. Tailored Cork Jackets with asymmetrical cuts just like nature is perfectly imperfect.

 

Extracting the silhouettes of tree branches and roots and laser cutting them on to cork. Fraying the edges of fabric inspired by the gentle roots of plants, trees and mushrooms, representing the rawness and organic textures of these elements.
