Innovation

Integrating digital in my creative practice has been life-changing, fun and supports my creative vision as a sustainable designer.

Digital fashion allows me to explore my creativity as a designer without having to compromise the choice of fabrics in being plant fibres or naturally dyed. By having limitless choices of fabrics, colours and textures I am able to create garments that in the physical world would most probably be made from man-made fibres or chemically dyed which has a severe impact on the environment.

Creating and developing patterns on CLO 3D, on one hand, reduces the number of physical samples, sampling costs, resources, paper and fabric waste, contributing to a healthier environmental practice. On the other hand, it accelerates the development by simplifying the prototyping process. Adjustments like measurements, silhouette, shape, form and fit are easily modified and instantly simulated on a 3D avatar. Digital fashion is an opportunity to give a second life to clothes which are sometimes unsuited for being worn in our daily lives, and instead can be explored in multiple virtual worlds.

The space for limitless possibilities within a virtual reality stirs excitement, curiosity and creative energy into motivation to keep exploring the possibilities of digital fashion in my work. I believe this new generation of 3D creatives have the power to inspire the fashion industry to become more sustainable in its practices by implementing and allowing these new technologies to create the space for people to connect and have fun.
